Foreign firm proposes over $60 mln waste-to-energy plant in Quang Tri

EB Environmental Energy Co., Ltd. from neighboring Hue City, an enterprise belonging to China Everbright Environment Group Limited, on October 22 met with leaders of Quang Tri province in central Vietnam to propose investing in the "Quang Tri Solid Waste-to-Energy Plant" project, with a total investment of approximately VND1.6 trillion (nearly $60.76 million).

At the meeting, the firm representatives presented an investment plan for the project combined with power generation, utilizing modern technology to thoroughly address the issue of domestic waste in the area.

According to the proposal, the "Quang Tri Solid Waste-to-Energy Plant" project is expected to be built on an area of approximately 11 hectares, with a capacity of 600 tons/day, capable of generating 15 MW of electricity. The construction period is estimated to be 18 months from the completion of all procedures.

The investor committed to ensuring the investment capital is secure and uninterrupted, while also mobilizing a team of experienced experts and engineers to operate the advanced waste-to-energy technology.

Currently, Quang Tri province generates about 917 tons of domestic waste daily. Meanwhile, the 18 existing waste treatment facilities primarily use landfilling, with only a small portion being treated by incineration technology without energy recovery.
